Appearance and data sharing

Light or dark theme, notification switches, and what the app does with your location.

You open the Settings screen from your profile. It is divided into five blocks: Appearance, Account, Notifications, Other and Session. This article covers the first one and the related privacy questions.

Theme

You can choose from three options:

Your choice stays on the phone, so it is still in effect after a restart, and it is independent of logging in. "System" follows the switch live: if your phone changes to dark mode in the evening, the app changes with it, no restart needed.

Notifications

There are two switches, each separate:

You can read more about these in the Notifications article.

What the app does with your location

There is no separate "share location" switch in the app, and other users (not even your friends) don't see your location. The map shows the cities, your own position and the events, not other people.

We use location for these:

If you also allow background location, the app can check you in by itself when you get near the venue of a currently running event: in that case you get a notification about it. You can withdraw the permission at any time in the phone's settings; the rest of the app keeps working the same.

Your data

In the "Other" block you reach the privacy notice and the Terms, and from here you can also request downloading your data (GDPR). At the bottom of the block is the app's version number, worth giving when you report an error.

Where can I turn off that others see my location?

Nowhere, because there is nothing to turn off: other users can't see your location. If you don't want the app to have access at all, withdraw the location permission in the phone's settings.

Do I lose my theme setting if I log out?

No. The theme stays on the device, independent of logging in.

Why does the app ask for the camera?

Only if, as a staff member, you have to scan a reward or ticket QR code. Otherwise we don't ask for it.
